We’ve implemented an inviting welcome screen that appears after signing up for a free trial. This feature provides helpful tips for getting started and offers multiple ways to reach out to us.

A lot of little UI enhancements and several bug fixes. Yay!

Live refresh of Reader. As of this release, if you open a separate window that has a Reader view, and you save changes to any item in that same Chapter, the reader will automatically update within a few seconds. This is great for dual-monitor setups, and even works across devices. You can have a tablet showing the Reader view and make changes on your desktop, for example.

100% mobile friendly! Some tables, like the All Items page, looked bad or required the whole page to be scrolled back and forth on a mobile device. Now you can horizontally scroll any table that does not fit comfortably on the screen. This was bugging us and was the last issue that kept us from being 100% mobile friendly.

Every 5 seconds, a snapshot of what you are editing is stored. If you close the browser without saving, the next time you go to edit that item, Word Weaver Pro will ask you if you want to restore all the edits you made. If you close without saving on purpose (you changed your mind about something), you can discard the changes and continue normally.

You will see an itty-bitty (technical term) and subtle icon flash in the upper right-hand corner of your window. That is letting you know a copy of your edits is being stored.

Keep in mind this DOES NOT automatically save your work. It is making a copy in case something happens, and you don’t save your changes, but want to get them back.

Get ready to supercharge your creativity with the latest enhancements to the Quick Note feature! Imagine this: you’re out and about, and inspiration strikes—an amazing idea, a perfect scene, or a character detail you don’t want to lose. Now, it’s easier than ever to capture it instantly. Just open the app, head to the home (Projects) page, and tap the new Quick Note button at the top.

The Quick Note feature is designed for speed and simplicity, turning those fleeting ideas into actionable gems. Once saved, your Quick Note transforms into a Resource that you can refine and connect to other elements—like Characters, Chapters, or Scenes—bringing your project one step closer to brilliance.

Jot down text, snap a photo, or, if you’re short on time, record a voice note to revisit later. Whether it’s a flash of dialogue, a visual cue, or a voice memo, Quick Note ensures your creativity is always captured, no matter where inspiration strikes.

Version 2 is ready for you to use! We have improved virtually every aspect of Word Weaver Pro. Here are some highlights:

• More intuitive. When you save an item, you return t whatever you were looking at before you started editing. No more having to click back to get where you were.
• Full integration with the Reader. You can jump to the Reader from any Chapter or Scene, and when you exit you are back to the last Chapter or Scene your were looking at. Same goes for Projects.
• Outline. Whenever you are viewing a Chapter or Scene, an outline of your project appears in the right-hand colum (on desktop and tablets). What specific item you ere viewing is highlighted so you can see where you are.
• Notifications don’t intrude. When you need to be notified of something, the notification dismisses automatically.

Massive UX upgrades in today’s release fix those “click-and-see-something-unexpected” moments, creating a smoother, more intuitive experience. Getting closer to 2.0.

New feature: Put notes you want to keep in mind when writing your story. Examples are narration perspective and tone. This will appear in the project, chapter and scene.

A pesky bug had been causing frustration by requiring double taps on links when using mobile devices. It was on our to-do list, and we’re excited to announce that it’s finally resolved! Navigating on mobile is now much more pleasant. Additionally, we’ve introduced a seamlessly integrated and more accessible “Back to top” button that remains unobtrusive. Awesome!

Now, whenever you are viewing a Chapter or Scene, the outline of your Project is displayed in the righthand column. You can jump anywhere in your story from there.

Improved mobile layout and UX. A surprising number of authors write and edit on a phone, so we put a lot of attention into little enhancements that make that experience better.

Added a Feedback button that floats at the lower left of the screen. It is pretty small to keep it out of your way, but it’s always available for use.

Very handy feature added today. In the All items page and the Recently updated block, you can type a few letters of what you are looking for, it will automatically filter the list showing you the items that match.

We have also refined the Search page to show more relevant items at the top.

The Helpful Links page was getting pretty long (a good problem to have), so we added some filters to make it a more useful tool. Now you can only see the stuff you are interested in.

We also added some sharing links to certain pages so people can spread the word of our coolness.

You can now install Word Weaver Pro as a Progressive Web App (PWA) to make it even easier to work with. In Chrome, Edge and Safari (but not Firefox), on both desktop and mobile, you will see a notification that an app is available. If you install it, you will see the site launch in its own app. You can then keep it in your dock (Mac) or taskbar (Windows).

This is a great way to be able to jump into Word Weaver Pro at any time without having to launch your browser.

Added a new feature of a log in the editor itself. As you are typing, it records changes, and you can jump around all the changes in the last 24 hours without leaving the editing screen.

Many tiny enhancements in the way information is displayed and accessed. One feature requested from an author is to open Resources in a new tab when viewing or editing another item. Great idea. Characters and Locations in an overlay make sense, but a resource is too complex for an overlay, and can contain external links.

Lots of little bug fixes and tweaks to the UI. Updated the logo as well.

This release brings a new read-aloud feature to replace the one in the reader preview. Now, when you are viewing a chapter or scene, you can have it read out that item. For example, you could work on a scene, save it, then have Word Weaver Pro read it out so you can hear the flow.

We have also streamlined the toolbar (a lot) and moved it up to free up space in your work area.

We made some major changes and improvements to the way the site is cached on the internet. Pages that are available without logging in are now completely served up by our content delivery network. Pages displayed to a logged-in user have all the common parts served by a CDN (for example, the background image and the files used to enable the editor toolbar).

This had to be done very, very carefully so that nobody’s private content is shown to another person because of a problem with caching. Because of this, it took a lot of testing before we could deploy these changes.

Big release. Tons of security enhancements and streamlining of the back-end. All of this is to prepare for our 2.0 release.

We’re excited to announce a new update that makes creating and editing even easier! Now, the main edit page is streamlined for a cleaner, more efficient experience.

You can still access rarely used fields, but they’re neatly tucked away in an “Additional Options” pop-up.

BTW, you are not seeing a lot of new releases recently because we are hard at work on Word Weaver Pro version 2.0!
